Our Pilipinx-American Culture Night (PACN) is an annual production hosted by Kababayan at UCI at the Bren Events Center. This year, PACN will be premiering virtually on Youtube. PACN is a completely student-led production involving a cast of over 100 performers. Being Kababayan at UCI's largest event of the year, as well as the largest culture night at UCI, our culture night aims to not only showcase the Pilipinx culture through various forms of art such as theater, music, and traditional dances, but also bring light to the different issues that surround the Pilipinx-American community. With the help of logistical suites, these different art forms are brought together to create our production that is "Hiraya Manawari" or "May the Wishes of Your Heart Be Granted"!

“Hiraya Manawari,” is an adaptation of the Filipino Mythology, “The Legend of Mount Mayon.” However, our story combines two different periods of reality: modern and mythological. The two young women from both stories struggle with an internal conflict between following their own dreams and aspirations or choosing familial obligations. Not only is this a struggle of self versus family, but it is a conflict of loving someone who will never be accepted by your family.
“Hiraya Manawari,” or “May the Wishes of Your Heart Be Granted,” begins with Princess Mayon, the daughter of Chief Datu, finding out she is arranged to be married to the tribe's most respectable warrior, Dakila. However she runs into her childhood companion, Aron, which complicates the choice of following her heart or the obligations for her tribe. On the other end of the story, Raelyn Marie Delgado, a 20 year old college student, faces similar conflict when she finds out that her mother, Rosalinda, would never approve of her educational passions or her relationship with her boyfriend, JR.
